Wild, Sustainable, U.S. Caught Albacore Tuna Sea Fare Pacific is processed and packaged in Charleston, Oregon and is a brand committed to sustainable fishing habits, and sourcing only from local, U.S. fishermen; sustainably fishing without nets, long lines or FADS. The Albacore Each Albacore tuna is harvested off the shores of Northern California, Oregon and Washington using a fishing technique called “troll caught”. This way of fishing uses one, (non-barbed) hook on a single line “trolled” behind the boat which prevents over-fishing as well as the unfortunate consequences of unwanted bycatch (like dolphins and turtles). Once caught, each Albacore is processed quickly and stored below freezing for best quality. The Pouch Canned tuna has been popular for more than a century—sometimes canned in mom’s kitchen, but more often purchased at the grocery store. As popular as this container has been, we have come to realize it is taxing on resources and energy when used. In response, Sea Fare Pacific has chosen to package our wild caught Albacore in a pouch—preserving mom’s home-canned taste with a more environmentally-friendly container. The Crew Oregon Seafoods (brand owner and processor of Sea Fare Pacific products) is a small business doing big things! Working out of Charleston, Oregon, our crew hand fillets, hand sorts and hand packs each pouch while continuously checking the quality of the Albacore before it finds its way to you! FAQs - Pouches 1) What about the concerns with food cooked in plastic? - Answer: Each pouch is lined with a BPA free, polypropylene lining that is non-toxic and does not release harmful substances into the Albacore before, during or after the cooking process. 2) How is a pouch better for the environment than a can? - Answer: The materials and energy used to create, ship, store and process use up far less energy than a can containing the same amount of fish. Just the cooking process alone uses 70% less energy for our 4lb pouches versus a 4lb can! 3) Why do pouches taste SO much better than cans? – Answer: In cans, the outer edges of the Albacore are over-cooked as the heat penetrates its way to the center of the can. Pouches are thinner, resulting in less time for the heat to reach the center and an overall lower cook time (by around 70%). Once the pouch has been cooked properly, they are immediately cooled, stopping the Albacore inside from continuing to cook. 4) How can I order? – Answer: Right here on Permanent! Just place your order in your accounts page and we will have your order shipped from our facility within two business days!
