About

Rancho las Palmas partners Juvenal, Rigoberto Cruz, and their families come from a long legacy of farmworker families. Growing up in the corn fields in Guanajuato and Oaxaca and being part of a big family encouraged us to be curious about living off the land. Seeing our grandparents and parents planting corn, beans, legumes, and many more vegetables to feed their families opened our minds to the possibility of using our knowledge to produce organic food for our community. We grew up knowing how important it is to treat Mother Nature with love and respect because we cannot survive without it. Therefore, we decided to become an organic farm which allowed us to implement climate-smart agricultural practices without compromising our values while doing what we know how to do best, farming. Rancho las Palmas are independent, world-class producers of three crops that Davenport's unique, coastal climate produces in delicious abundance: Brussels Sprouts, Artichokes, and Snap Peas. Owned and operated by two entrepreneurial couples with over 20 years of farming experience, RLP is Certified Organic by CCOF, Harmonized GAP certified by Global GAP, and committed to the continuous adoption of regenerative practices like green cover cropping and composting.
