About

Shawn is a third-generation farmer, it's in his blood. He started farming with his dad when he was old enough to reach the pedals. In 2009, a family friend convinced him to give up on conventional row crop farming and give organic farming a try. He started with 260 acres and has grown to farming about 1500 acres organically. Shawn enjoys diversification and trying new crops, and is passionate about farming and organic practices. He serves on multiple boards and committees, and shares his time and expertise when asked. He travels to Washington each March to lobby and advocate for organic farmers. He works hard to get his voice heard and push organic farming into the future.

Top crops

Sweet potatoes, edamame, soybeans, corn, rice and are exploring buckwheat, benne seeds, sea island white flint corn and petit rouge peas through a research project
